The “Remain in Mexico” Policy Has Been Formally Ended

The policy called for the returning of asylum seekers to Mexico as they awaited their court dates.

Immigrant advocates have declared the end of the remain in Mexico policy a “huge victory”. Judy Rabinovitz, American Civil Liberties Union attorney and lead counsel stated, “The forced return policy was cruel, depraved, and illegal, and we are glad that it has finally been rescinded.”
